Getting here is easy! Whether you are flying right into the Sun Valley airport or our closest major airport in Boise just a short drive away, the routes are numerous and easy to navigate. 

By Air

Fly direct to Sun Valley (Friedman Memorial Airport – SUN), 12 miles south of Sun Valley/Ketchum.

  • SkyWest Airlines/Delta Connection: averaging 10 daily flights from Salt Lake City, UT, connecting to cities around the US and the world
  • Horizon Air/Alaska Airlines: daily non-stop flights from Seattle, Boise, and Los Angeles (summer & winter seasonal)

Fly direct in to Boise (BOI), 150 miles southwest of Sun Valley where you can take a shuttle or rent a car.

Visitors can also take any one of 60 daily flights into Boise, ID, our major airline gateway, 150 miles west of Sun Valley. Daily shuttles from Boise are available on Sun Valley Express (twice daily), and will take visitors directly to Sun Valley.

Delta Airlines, Horizon Air, Northwest Airlines, SkyWest Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Continental Airlines and United Airlines all service the Boise airport.

Also the Salt Lake City airport is just 4.5 hours away and is a major gateway of flights from all over the Midwest and East Coast.

Rental Cars

The three major car rental companies in the area are Avis (208.788.2382), Enterprise (208.578.1156), and Budget (208.788.0012).  All three are located at the Friedman Memorial Airport at 1616 Airport Way in Hailey, ID 83333. Call for pickups and reservations.

Bus

Once you are in the Sun Valley/Ketchum area, Mountain Rides offers a FREE Around Town bus service that connects the areas in Ketchum and Sun Valley including Warm Springs and River Run lift access to Bald Mountain.  Mountain Rides also provides a Down Valley service making several daily trips from Sun Valley/Ketchum to Hailey and Bellevue.

Winter Season 2011-2012 Bus Schedule

The Blue Route connects downtown Ketchum, Warm Springs, Sun Valley Village, and Elkhorn Springs. It currently runs every 30 minutes from 7am to 9:30pm and hourly 10pm to 12:50am.

The Red Route connects Elkhorn Springs, Morning Star, Twin Creeks, River Run, and Ketchum. It currently runs every 30 minutes from 8:30am until 2pm and hourly after 2pm until 5pm.

The Green Route connects downtown Ketchum, West Ketchum, River Run, St. Luke’s Hospital, and the Meadows. It currently runs hourly from 7:10am until 5:55pm. We have a NEW Green Route service running every 30 minutes from 6 to 9pm, River Run to West Ketchum to Main & 4th downtown only.

The Bronze Route connects Sun Valley Village and Warm Springs via Saddle Road. It currently runs every 30 minutes from 8:30am until 3:30pm.

The Silver Route connects Sun Valley Village and River Run plus has a connection to Dollar Mountain. It currently runs every 15 minutes from 8am until 5:56pm.

The Gold Route connects Elkhorn Springs, Dollar Mountain, Sun Valley Village, and the Sun Valley Club and Nordic Center. It currently runs every 30 minutes from 9:05am to 3:05pm.

**The Valley Route (fare required) connects Bellevue, Hailey, Ketchum, and Sun Valley. It currently runs every 30 minutes during the peak commute time, hourly midday, and limited late evening trips Monday through Friday 5:50am to 9:50pm. On Saturday and Holidays the Valley bus runs every 2-3 hours from 6:35am to 7:50pm. On Sundays, the Valley bus runs every 2-3 hours from 6:35am to 5:50pm.
