What else would you call a parade of 2,000 sheep down Main Street? From this Trailing of the Sheep Festival in October to the culinary indulgence of the Sun Valley Harvest Festival in September, it is no surprise that many of the events that epitomize Sun Valley are very often unclassifiable or just simply unique. Here is a list of some of these unique festivals offered each month throughout the year, as well as other upcoming festivals in the calendar listings below.

The Sun Valley Shakespeare Festival features Laughing Stock Theatre’s production of "The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged)" A riotous romp through all of the Bard’s tragedies, comedies and historical plays...Abridged, of course! This is a wildly funny evening of theater, as three actors set out to perform ALL of Shakespeare's plays - for lovers and haters of The Bard's works. The Sun Valley Shakespeare Festival features "Midsummer Night's Dream", playing outdoors in the Forest Service Park in Ketchum August 19-22, 26-29. Also part of the festival are: The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) playing at the nexStage Theatre from August 16-18, and the Sun Valley Renaissance Faire, August 21-22, during the first weekend of the Festival. As the nexStage Theatre’s Sun Valley Shakespeare Festival mainstage production for 2010, the play takes place outdoors in the Forest Service Park in Ketchum. Weaving three stories of love, magic and perception in a moonlit forest on a midsummer night, Shakespeare's fantastical play remains one of his most popular plays on stage and a favorite with audiences of all ages. 53rd Annual Labor Day Celebration honoring the area's mining heritage, featuring the largest non-motorized parade in the Northwest. Parade is Saturday, September 4 at 1pm. The 6th Annual Spiritual Film Festival with world-class films, documentaries and speakers returns in September to the Sun Valley Opera House. A rich and diverse collection of films from around the world will celebrate and explore our many spiritual traditions through the universal language of film. There are 28 films for this year. The Sun Valley Harvest Festival (formerly the Sun Valley Food & Wine Festival) will take place September 24-26, 2010. The festival has been moved to the fall to take advantage of the local harvest and the beautiful Sun Valley weather. Focusing on regional sustainable foods, wines and beers, the event will feature cooking demonstrations by visiting regional chefs, wine and beer tastings, a culinary trade show, a restaurant walk, chef's dinners and a beer garden.
