The Little Wood
Season: All Year
Species Available: Rainbow, Brown & Brook Trout
Perhaps the most overlooked piece of water in our area. The Little Wood offers two distinctly different experiences. Both stretches tend to fish seasonally, but when the action is on, they both can be exciting fisheries. A true desert fishery awaits anglers, below the confluence of the Little Wood and Silver Creek, south of Carey. Big Brown Trout lurk here, in what can only be described as a Freestone Spring Creek. This river is often productive in the spring and fall with a few opportunities in mid-summer, but like any desert river, rattlesnakes and extreme heat can limit summer time activity.
