Sun Valley has a well-deserved reputation for world-class alpine skiing, but it is also known as “Nordic Town USA” for having the best Nordic ski terrain in the U.S. Sun Valley has been recognized by the US Olympic Committee as a Nordic Olympic Training Site and Paralympic Training Site due to the quality, volume and diversity of Nordic skiing and other necessary amenities for training the world's best athletes.
Here you will find over 200 kilometers of meticulously maintained Nordic trails with incredible diversity of terrain and trail type. The valley is linked by a Wood River Trail and Harriman Trail which reaches from Galena Lodge to Bellevue with only a short interruption between the Sawtooth National Recreation area and Ketchum. Several trail networks jump off along the way with additional Nordic centers found at Galena Lodge and Sun Valley Resort. No matter your age, ability, or level of interest, if you want to Nordic ski the way the sport was intended, this is the place for you.

Nordic ski trails in the Sun Valley area are open from mid-November to late April, depending on snowfall. Ski rentals are offered at a number of local specialty retailers and rentals, instruction, guided tours and other activities and services are found at the Galena Lodge and the Sun Valley Nordic Center.
