With over 400 miles of singletrack spread throughout the valley, the mountain biking is some of the best—and most scenic—in the country. Bald Mountain now boasts America’s longest purpose-built downhill and 3,100 feet of thrilling lift-accessed trails (including two new downhill rides!). For a milder experience, riders can head to the White Clouds trail network or take the leafy Wood River Trail, to any number of mixed ability trails in the Adams Gulch area. The City of Ketchum is inviting residents and visitors to come on down to Town Square and celebrate as the longest day of the year gives way to our brilliant dark and starry skies. The city’s first-ever Summer Solstice bash is planned for Thursday, June 21, from 4 to 9 p.m. The family-friendly event marking the start of the summer season includes a balloon clown, face painters, jugglers, magicians, henna artist and art activities designed just for kids (and maybe a grown up or two!) Local food and beverage vendors will be serving it up with drink specials, and Nate Botsford and Band are booked to play a pair of 90-minute sets. There will also be special programming to celebrate June as “Dark Sky Month,” as well as the city’s status as a Dark Sky Community and its inclusion in the nation’s first Dark Sky Reserve.

Brilliantly illuminating the creative talent in the Sun Valley region, the sixth annual Wood River Valley Studio Tour opens the doors of professional artists’ studios to the general public Saturday and Sunday, August 17th – 18th.  Visitors from near and far travel by car, bicycle or on foot on self-guided adventures, exploring artists’ working sanctuaries throughout the Wood River Valley. Extending from Bellevue in the south end of the valley to Ketchum in the north and all parts in between, visitors enjoy the rare experience of being in the environments where art is created while getting acquainted with the makers and gaining a close-up view of the materials and media artists employ. The Dusty 45s have inspired and fired up crowds for over two decades to the delight of fans and critics alike.  With their signature style and unique sound, the band is a consistently powerful and energetic player in the Americana field.  Led by charismatic singer/songwriter, guitarist and trumpeter, Billy Joe Huels, the raucous band tears through Huels’ original songs that draw inspiration from the roots of Rock, Rhythm and Blues, Honkytonk and Jazz.  Current members of The Dusty 45s also include Jerry Battista (lead guitar), Robin Cady (upright bass), Kohen Burrill (drums) and William Stover (piano).  Huels and his outfit have steadily built their fan base since 1997. The Dusty 45s have toured extensively and they backed Rock and Roll hall of famer, Wanda Jackson, multiple times. A highlight with Jackson was when they joined her opening for Adele’s ’21’ tour in 2011.
