The cirque series is redefining what mountain running is all about. Starting from the base of a world-famous ski resort, you’ll rally up windswept ridges and glacial cirques to towering peaks, power down a quad-burning descent, break the tape into a festival of live music, food, drink, and vendor tents. The elevation is serious but the mileage is manageable, and the race is as hardcore as you want it to be–beat the pros down to earn legend status and cash prizes, or enjoy the views and let the challenge be its own reward. 2019 Course Description Race starts at River Run Plaza (elevation 5,760′ ft) and goes immediately up the Lower River Run and Canyon ski runs.  The relentless climb taunts you as you push for relief on the final headwall of the Upper Canyon ski run before reaching the Roundhouse Restaurant (7680’ ft). A short downhill traverse on a mellow service road gets you to the Seattle Ridge area of Bald Mountain (elevation 9,150) where you’ll be greeted by views of Sun Valley’s legendary Bowls.  Now the real fun begins, you’ll push to the Bald Mountain ridge with views of 5 mountain ranges and an abandoned Forest Service lookout. ...

The celebrated Sun Valley on Ice opens July 4th and runs select Saturday nights through Labor Day, featuring an all-star lineup of some of the world’s finest skaters. Watch in awe as Olympians like Alex and Maya Shibutani dazzle you with their precision, power, and grace. Enjoy the show from rink-side seating, so close you can feel the cool of the ice, or dine on our decadent buffet from the terrace of the Sun Valley Lodge, all while taking in the fresh sounds and thrilling action of today’s top skaters.   The shows will include the following performers: July 4—Alysa Liu, U.S. National Champion, and Ryan Bradley, U.S. National Champion. At Hikin’ Buddies, you can take a shelter dog for a hike, or hang out and socialize some of the smaller dogs. It is a great opportunity to meet some of Mountain Humane’s adoptable dogs as well as to learn more about the organization. All are welcome to join in throughout the summer, weather permitting. Meet at Adam’s Gulch trailhead from 9:30-1:00 on Wednesdays. No appointment is necessary; just bring your family and friends to have a good time with some dogs that would love to meet you! *Dogs go out on hikes on a first come first serve basis.* Also, Mountain Humane will now be doing adoptions at Adam’s Gulch during Hikin’ Buddies!  Come and meet the dogs, take them for a walk, and if you fall in love – an Adoption Counselor will be onsite to help you complete the adoption! Directions to Adam’s Gulch: Take Hwy 75 north through the city of Ketchum. As you drive next to the Bigwood Golf course you will see a left-hand turn for Adam’s Gulch. Follow this road as it winds towards the hill. At the T in the road go left, and you will soon see Adam’s Gulch parking lot and the Mountain Humane tent and van.

Gather up the family for dinner at our weekly barbecue buffet and wagon ride offered July thru August. Enjoy a scenic and historic wagon ride out into Senate Meadows stopping to take pictures, learn history and get a true sense of Galena’s past. The cowboys will then bring you back to the lawn at Galena where a traditional Western bbq will be waiting for you. The grill menu features Idaho trout, beef tri-tip, Idaho beef burgers, pulled pork, smoked and bbq’d chicken, corn on the cob, baked beans, coleslaw, Idaho potato salad, mixed berry cobbler and more! Reservations are requested, as seating on the wagon is limited. You can also just join us for the bbq dinner. Wagons depart at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm. Please call 726-4010 for reservations. Cost is $50 for adults and $25 for kids not including alcohol, tax or gratuity. Just the BBQ can be enjoyed for $27 for adults.

Please join us September 21, 2019 for another amazing Sun Valley Half Marathon which will finish in Ketchum Town Square, followed by the Sawtooth Brewery Oktoberfest. Course starts at the YMCA, heads south on the bike path, turns left into Elkhorn, climbs over Elkhorn and back down to Sun Valley Rd. Then it takes a right turn on the bike path toward Trail Creek and does an out and back before heading back into Ketchum and finishes at the town square. Finisher medals for the first 150 racers. Trophy (custom schooner mug) for 1st-3rd overall M/F and 1st place M/F in age groups u19 and 10yr increments. Registration (coming soon) Includes; t-shirt, swag, coupon for beer at Oktoberfest

The running, hiking and biking challenge offers “One Big Mountain, Five Awesome Events.” The course for runners and hikers spans 1.86 miles and 3,140 vertical feet from the bottom of Warm Springs to the summit of Bald Mountain at 9,020 feet. There are two mountain biking events, the Baldy Bike Hill Climb and Cheeso Double in which competitors complete the mountain bike race and Hill Climb. The bike course is the Cold Springs mountain bike trail featuring an elevation gain of 2,600 vertical feet over nine miles. The Cheeso Double is named in named in memory for the late SVSEF ski coach Craig “Cheeso” Kjesbo. Truly an event for all ages, the BHC also features a free children’s Kinderclimb for ages 11-and-younger. The course is 300 vertical feet starting at the base of Warm Springs. Everyone receives a participatory ribbon.  All participants receive a T-shirt, access to the summit aid station, lift service and entry to the post-race awards party.

Sun Valley Tour de Force is a weekend of epic proportions! At the Friday evening Sun Valley Tour de Force Car Show up to 200 cars gather on the closed streets surrounding Ketchum Town Square. Exotics, vintage as well as cars participating in Saturday’s high-speed event will be on display, offering an excellent preview and photo opportunity for guests. The event is FREE for all spectators. Saturday’s unique high-speed event takes place on a closed public road just minutes from the world-famous Sun Valley resort. Spectators will enjoy the thrill of watching the cars barrel down Highway 75 at Phantom Hill, surrounded by the statuesque Sawtooth Mountains.
