THE SOUND INSIDE by Adam Rapp Performed in-person on stage at The Spot with a fully vaccinated company Directed by NATALIE BATTISTONE Performed by DENISE SIMONE and KAGEN ALBRIGHT Show Description: Playwright Adam Rapp is a master of the small moments that define a character. He created beautiful portraits in his earlier play Red Light Winter which was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2006. He has done so once again in his new play, THE SOUND INSIDE. Here we meet Yale creative writing professor Bella Baird and her brilliant, guarded, challenging student Christopher Dunn. Bella starts by addressing the audience in direct, brutally open narration. She is his professor, his mentor, alone by choice, supremely confident. She is drawn to him, somehow compelled to know him. And also there is something she wants from him. Something that she may not be able to ask. The tension of their encounters builds quietly, provocatively as the playwright drives forward to a stunning conclusion. RUN TIME: approx. 90 minutes with no intermission SUITABILITY: Recommended for audiences 14+ due to mature themes. The Liberty Theatre Company presents The Last Five Years. The hit musical by Jason Robert Brown follows the story of Cathy, a struggling actress, and Jamie, a budding novelist on the brink of wild success, who meet, fall in love, marry, and divorce over the span of five years. Cathy tells the story from the end of their marriage; Jamie begins from when they first meet. As the musical unfolds, Cathy moves backward in time to the beginning of the relationship as Jamie moves toward the end; they meet only once, in the middle, at their wedding. This poignant, funny, and devastatingly honest two-person musical has enraptured audiences around the world with its spellbinding and emotional score. Tickets: $35 General Admission / $15 Student
