Give back to Idaho’s Sawtooth National Recreation Area this fall! The Sawtooth National Recreation Area (SNRA) needs your help to recover from the impacts of this busy summer season. Grab friends, family, or coworkers and choose a clean up project in the frontcountry or backcountry and join us in making a difference on this iconic landscape. CREATIVE JUMP-IN: Introduction to Astrophotography @ Little Redfish Lake

Astrophotography, also known as astronomical imaging, is photography or imaging of astronomical objects, celestial events, and areas of the night sky. Learn how to create stunning images of the landscape under a night sky in the dramatic Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve! This class will introduce participants to pre-trip planning, camera settings and ideal equipment, composition, panorama creation, and post-processing techniques. Participants will meet at the Sun Valley Museum of Art on Friday, Oct 1 at 5:30pm, arrange for carpooling as needed and depart for Little Redfish Lake by 5:45pm. Students will photograph the sunset (7:20pm), discuss camera settings and composition and shoot a bit of blue hour before astronomical twilight. Once a fully dark sky is in place, participants will practice creating night sky compositions before heading back to Ketchum around 10:30pm. If the sky is cloudy, alternate arrangements will be made to meet on this side of Galena Summit (location to be determined). On Saturday, students will discuss post-processing technique, including light noise reduction, panorama stitching, lens corrections, and image retouching. Age and ability: 18 yrs and older, beginners welcome! Legends Never Die is a Mountain adventure race staged at Oregon Gulch. Five miles north of Sun Valley, in Ketchum Idaho The inaugural event will take place October 2nd, 2021. Two races Half and Full Marathon distances. Along single track exploding with color from fall foliage. The majestic mountain views are sure to take your breath away. This is true adventure run. If you like a challenge, a feeling of isolation and running through areas and landscapes straight from a post card or fantasy novel then you’re in the right place. Weather conditions can vary in the mountains especially at higher elevation. Presenting new challenges and giving athletes a good test in wilderness conditions.
