Sun Valley Music Festival Returns to In-Person Concerts @ Sun Valley Pavilion

The Sun Valley Music Festival announces repertoire details and the concert schedule for its return to in-person concerts July 26-August 19, 2021 at the Sun Valley Pavilion. The 37th annual Summer Season will feature 14 admission-free concerts alongside the fundraising Gala Concert and multiple outreach and education events, all presented safely in a beautiful, outdoor setting. Programming highlights this year include the world premiere of a Festival commission – Jessie Montgomery’s Five Freedom Songs with soprano Julia Bullock; Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with superstar Joshua Bell for the fundraising Gala Concert; a celebratory concert honoring frontline heroes; Rachmaninoff’s renowned second piano concerto with Joyce Yang; Schumann’s Cello Concerto with Alisa Weilerstein; Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3 with Vadim Gluzman; Mahler’s Fourth Symphony, and a season finale featuring Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony. All summer performances, including chamber concerts and recitals, will take place at the Sun Valley Pavilion and can be enjoyed outdoors, from within the open-air Pavilion or from the lawn. Every Wednesday Starting June 9 through August 4, 9:30am – 1pm At Hikin’ Buddies, you can take a shelter dog for a hike, or hang out and socialize some of the smaller dogs. It is a great opportunity to meet some of Mountain Humane’s adoptable dogs as well as to learn more about the organization. All are welcome to join in throughout the summer, weather permitting. Meet at Adam’s Gulch trailhead from 9:30am-1:00pm on Wednesdays. No appointment is necessary; just bring your family and friends to have a good time with some dogs that would love to meet you! *Dogs go out on hikes on a first come first serve basis.* Also, Mountain Humane will now be doing adoptions at Adam’s Gulch during Hikin’ Buddies! Come and meet the dogs, take them for a walk, and if you fall in love – an Adoption Counselor will be onsite to help you complete the adoption! Directions to Adam’s Gulch: Take Hwy 75 north through the city of Ketchum. As you drive next to the Bigwood Golf course you will see a left-hand turn for Adam’s Gulch. This summer we celebrate the 54th edition of the Sun Valley Arts & Crafts Festival. Join us in beautiful Atkinson Park in downtown Ketchum as we welcome 130 professional artists and craftspeople to the Wood River Valley. This festival is a juried, outdoor, fine arts and crafts show that is completely free and open to the public. This event typically has food trucks, artist demonstrations, music and a kids’ activity area. The rigourous jury process used to select artists and craftspeople to exhibit their work ensures the residents and visitors to the show will see truly exceptional work in all different categories. According to the Greg Lawler’s Art Fair SourceBook, the Sun Valley Arts & Crafts Festival in 2018 ranked #4 in the country for Fine Crafts sales and #20 in the country for Fine Arts sales. Mountain Humane is proud to present celebrity Dog Trainer, Emmy Award Winner, seven-season host of CBS’ Lucky Dog Show and author of  Lucky Dog Lessons, Brandon McMillan at the Argyros Performing Arts Center on August 29th. McMillan rescues untrained shelter dogs and under his care undergoes a miraculous transformation as they learn to trust him, master his “7 Common Commands,” and overcome their behavior problems—ultimately becoming well-mannered pets. Brandon will demonstrate his seven simple dog training tips that any dog owner can use and be available to sign his book. This Mountain Humane fundraising event for dog-lovers from near and far will be fun and educational for all ages.

Wagon Days. A Ketchum, Idaho Tradition. Ketchum is back in the saddle for Wagon Days! We are excited to announce that Wagon Days will take place this September 3 – 5, 2021. Since 1958, the City of Ketchum has celebrated its mining history with the largest non- motorized parade in the west.  Spend a day with the whole family. The Big Hitch Parade begins on Saturday 1pm. The Big Hitch Parade, features- quality buggies, carriages, carts and stagecoaches, and begins at 1 p.m. and proceeds down Sun Valley Road before turning north on Main Street. The grand finale, as always, will be the “Big Hitch,” historic Lewis Ore Wagons pulled by a 20-mule team from Bishop, CA on a jerkline.   Saturday, September 4 Big Hitch Parade – 1 p.m. Grand Marshal Celebration Children’s Activities Local Food and Beverage Vendors on East Avenue Historical Display in Ore Wagon Museum: The Lewis Ore Wagons will be on display outside the Ore Wagon Museum beginning on  on Friday, August 20.
