Ketchum Arts Festival is an annual celebration of Idaho art in the shadow of Sun Valley’s Baldy Mountain. This year’s dates and times are July 8 and 9 from 10am-6pm and July 10 from 10am-4pm. Take a breather from your busy summer schedule and spend some time sampling great food and beer, and perusing the creative output of more than 100 Idaho artists. The kiddos will enjoy free activities in a special area while the folks can shop. Even Fido can visit with her friends (from the safety of a leash). Festival Meadow is easily accessed from the Bitterroot stop of the free Mountain Rides Blue Route bus or with a short stroll from Ketchum or Sun Valley on the bike path. The 2022 Sun Valley Writers’ Conference (SVWC), held July 16-18 at the beautiful Sun Valley Resort and Pavilion, is gearing up to be one of our best yet. With speakers like Judy Woodruff, Arthur C. Brooks, and Lauren Groff—as well as budding debut novelists, Black, Chicana, and Asian voices, and a hip-hop comedy troupe straight from Broadway—we will be weaving together a rich tapestry of both talent and topics. We are thrilled to announce that McLaren Automotive, British luxury supercar and hypercar maker, has announced its participation in the 5th annual Sun Valley Tour de Force and will showcase its newest model, the McLaren Artura, at the event this summer. The best place to see these cars up close is at the 2022 SVTdF Car Show Friday, July 22nd at Festival Meadows, located on Sun Valley Road. The SVTdF Car Show takes place between 5-8pm and is free to attend. All cars participating in Saturday’s high-speed event will be on display and ready for photos. SVTdF custom t-shirts, hats, and memorabilia will be available for purchase. 65th Annual Wagon Days – September 2 – 4th, 2022 Since 1958, the City of Ketchum has celebrated its mining history with one of the largest non- motorized parade in the west. Spend a day with the whole family. The Big Hitch Parade begins on Saturday 1pm. The Big Hitch Parade, features- quality buggies, carriages, carts and stagecoaches, and begins at 1 p.m. and proceeds down Sun Valley Road before turning north on Main Street. The grand finale, as always, will be the “Big Hitch,” historic Lewis Ore Wagons pulled by a 20-mule team from Bishop, CA on a jerkline. Friday, September 2 5:30 p.m. Grand Marshal Ceremony in Town Square This ceremony celebrates, the 2022 Grand Marshals, individuals selected to be honored for their enduring contributions to the community of Ketchum. There will be food and drink provided by the City of Ketchum. The Trailing of the Sheep Festival was started in 1996 in response to the rapid loss of farms and ranches and the rapid growth in the Wood River Valley. The Festival preserves the stories and colorful history of sheep ranchers and herders, celebrates the rich cultures of the past and present and entertains and educates children, adults and families about the production of local food and fiber that sustain local economies and generations of hard-working families. Our mission is: To gather, present and preserve the history and culture of the families and individual men and women involved in Idaho sheep ranching and to honor their contributions to the development of Idaho and the West. Trailing of the Sheep has been named in the Top Ten Fall Festivals in the World, Top 200 Best U.S. Festivals and the Top 100 Festivals in N. America. In 2013, USA Today named it One of the Top Ten Fall Festivals in America. It is also the recipient of the Governor’s Award for Cultural Heritage.

As details unfold, they will be posted at www.svsef.org/events/24th-annual-janss-pro-am-classic/ The Janss Pro-Am Classic is held in memory of Mr. Bill Janss. A true renaissance man, Janss embodied the best qualities of the American spirit. He was dynamic, intelligent, fearless and kind, and had the vision and strength of character to boldly take Sun Valley Resort to the next level after purchasing it in 1964. Named to the 1940 Olympic Alpine Team, Janss remained a lifetime enthusiast and supporter of skiing and ski racing until his death in 1996. Because of Bill – his attributes, ethos and commitment to our community – the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation is proud to host the Janss Pro-Am Classic in his honor.
