Sun Valley Music Festival: Re-imagined 2020 Summer Season @ Sun Valley Pavilion
12:00 am
The Sun Valley Music Festival is going online this summer. Music Director Alasdair Neale is working with the musicians to create an entirely new season from scratch, to be broadcast each scheduled concert evening from the Festival’s website. This transformation will allow musicians to make music, faculty to teach, students to learn, and audiences to enjoy music all while following whatever guidelines for health and safety may be in place in July and August, as well as personal preferences. The reimagined season comes out of an abundance of caution with regard to in-person gatherings, not only in concert seating areas but also in the homes of housing hosts, the classrooms of music students, the stages of musicians, and the gathering and reception areas of patrons. The Pavilion interior will not be used this summer. However, conditions permitting, the Big Screen and sound system on the Lawn will be activated, allowing audiences to gather outside to enjoy each concert, with appropriate physical distancing. New repertoire, concert formats, and information on attending will be announced late June on the Festival website. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5I8fCMYpLI&feature=youtu.be Additional Details The Gala Concert is on – and free!  Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and Kelli O’Hara will create a special, ...

Trailing of the Sheep @ Various Locations
12:00 am
The Trailing of the Sheep Festival was started in 1996 in response to the rapid loss of farms and ranches and the rapid growth in the Wood River Valley. The Festival preserves the stories and colorful history of sheep ranchers and herders, celebrates the rich cultures of the past and present and entertains and educates children, adults and families about the production of local food and fiber that sustain local economies and generations of hard-working families. Our mission is: To gather, present and preserve the history and culture of the families and individual men and women involved in Idaho sheep ranching and to honor their contributions to the development of Idaho and the West. Trailing of the Sheep has been named in the Top Ten Fall Festivals in the World, Top 200 Best U.S. Festivals and the Top 100 Festivals in N. America. In 2013, USA Today named it One of the Top Ten Fall Festivals in America.  It is also the recipient of the Governor’s Award for Cultural Heritage. Click here for the full schedule!
