Science Pub! Saving Baldy’s Forests: Restoring an Icon of the Wood River Valley @ Sawtooth Brewery Public House | Ketchum | Idaho | United States
6:00 pm
Over the last 20 years, a myriad of insects and diseases have impacted forests throughout the Wood River Valley. Sun Valley’s premier peak, the skiers’ paradise of Bald Mountain, is one of the areas that is threatened by a growing bark beetle infestation and multiple disease outbreaks. Join the Idaho Conservation League and the U.S. Forest Service for a lively presentation about past, current and future projects to restore forest health on the iconic Bald Mountain. Josh Johnson, ICL’s conservation associate, and Zach Poff, recreation manager for the Ketchum Ranger District, will discuss the state of Baldy’s forests and new efforts to address their declining health. Come learn about forest ecology and ways that you can be involved in community initiatives to save Bald Mountain. Based on the Science Cafe model developed in Europe in the 1990s, ICL is pleased to present Science Pub as a fun way to bring educators, scientists, presenters and the public together. Come on out, grab a beer and join in on the informal discussions around scientific topics and environmental issues. No RSVP or scientific background is required. Just bring your curiosity, sense of humor, and appetite for drinks and knowledge! Image Credit: Lynn Campion
