Creative Jump-in: "No Waste Leather Bag and Accessory" @ SVMoA Hailey Classroom | Hailey | Idaho | United States
10:00 am
Sun Valley Museum of Art (SVMoA) is excited to present “No-Waste Leather Bag and Accessory”—a two-day Creative Jump-In led by local leather artist Morgan Buckert. Under the guidance of Morgan Buckert, workshop participants will create their own bag and accessory using Horween American-tanned leather seconds. Workshop participants will learn how to manipulate the leather to create high-quality products they will be proud to carry. Morgan Buckert builds custom cowboy boots and leather goods in her Hailey workshop using bespoke patterns, traditional construction techniques and vintage machinery. She is among the seventh generation of a Texan ranch family, and the influence of cowboy culture is evident in all her work. Hailing from Goliad, Texas, Morgan has degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of New Mexico. Morgan studied footwear at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina and later apprenticed with master bootmaker Seth Teichert in Mackay, Idaho. The Idaho Commission on the Arts ...
