This one week workshop is for students 8 years and older who have been studying 2 years or more that are serious about their training. Each day students will also have a character class, standard for the classic ballet training and traditions of the major ballet works. This class will explore combinations that make up the graded syllabus work of the Cecchetti Method of study. Hilarie Neely, Licentiate Member, Grade 6 will guide you thru some of the work that has been passed from generation to generation. The Cecchetti style is known for its purity of line with understanding of technique, epaulement, musicality with an equal emphasis on both adage and allegro work. Enrico Cecchetti was first a dancer, elevating male dancers with his signature role of The Bluebird in “The Sleeping Beauty”, 1890. He coached Anna Pavlova and others, from 1887-1905, until leaving Russia and settling in England where his method was codified and written down. Today it is considered one of the seven main methods of ballet for teaching.
