Sun Valley Museum of Art (SVMoA) is proud to again offer its free “Afternoon Art” program for the summer 2021 season, giving kids and their caregivers a special opportunity to enjoy art-making together. The program will be held at The Museum in Ketchum on select Wednesday afternoons in June and July 2021. Each offering will consist of two separate 50-minute sessions, the first starting at 2:30 and the second at 3:30 p.m. Spacing is limited to four families per session, and advance registration is required.
Designed for families with children who are 5 to 12 years of age, “Afternoon Art” will be offered June 16, June 30 and July 14. Together, families will make art and explore the exhibition. Projects will vary each week:
June 16 – Mini Clay Vessels
June 30 –Sun Photos
July 14 – Mega Monoprints
“We are excited to welcome back our ‘Afternoon Art’ family program,” said Katelyn Foley, Director of Education and Humanities at SVMoA. “This summer session will take place over three different days, and the projects will explore the mediums celebrated in the ‘Clay, Silver, Ink: Sun Valley Center at 50’ exhibition.”
Katelyn continued, “We have created new protocols to promote health and safety during these sessions, which include registering for a family table ahead of time. All of the projects are designed for families with school-age children to create and work together. Families will have 50 minutes in the museum and are encouraged to take advantage of this family time to experience the exhibition.”
SVMoA is closely following CDC and state and local guidelines regarding health and safety measures. The staff is fully vaccinated. Guests must wear a mask in The Museum, SVMoA’s classrooms and the Hailey House if they are unvaccinated or have underlying medical conditions which make them particularly vulnerable. While attending SVMoA events, participants must follow all posted or spoken instructions regarding health and safety.
Due to limited space in our classroom, each table can only accommodate a family of four. Reservations are made by the table. If a family group is larger than four people, additional tables can be reserved.
“Afternoon Art” is a free community event, but space is limited. Please register in advance to reserve a spot. For more information and to reserve a table in the event, visit svmoa.org or call 208.726.9491.
