The best small town 4th celebration in the West!
Hailey, Idaho, offers up perhaps the most quintessential small town 4th of July celebration in the West. In fact, the Los Angeles Times called out Hailey as one of the best places in the US to find “maximum fun for your Fourth of July.” The Hailey Days of the Old West celebration, July 2-6, offers up a fun and unique parade with colorful entries, plenty of horses and a Road Apple Roulette, antique market, pancake breakfast, live music and a spectacular fireworks display. There is plenty to do and authentic entertainment for all ages throughout the Wood River Valley during this holiday celebration.
Here is the run-down of what is happening during the Hailey Days of the Old West 4th of July celebration.
Pancake Breakfast: The University of Idaho Extension, Blaine County 4-H Club families offer up a hot full breakfast of homemade pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and more at the Grange Hall in Hailey. It’s the perfect way to fuel up for the long, fun day ahead.
Hailey Days of the Old West Parade: Over 80 enthusiastic parade entrants march down Hailey’s Main Street to delight the crowd! This year’s parade Grand Marshal is local community advocate Lynn Campion. The Hailey Days of the Old West Parade is produced by The Chamber and the City of Hailey.
- Dates/Time: July 4th, 12noon to 1:30pm
- Registration: in advance through The Chamber, www.valleychamber.org
Hailey Rotary Road Apple Roulette: A most unusual fundraiser, the Road Apple Roulette is held each year during Hailey’s 4th of July Parade. Via GPS satellite, the parade route is sectioned off into 10,000 squares that are each designated a number. If, during the parade, a horse happens to drop a “Road Apple” on a ticketed square, the winner’s name goes into a drum for the prize drawing at the end of the parade. If someone purchases multiple squares, their name is entered for each square a “Road Apple” happens to hit. The funds raised go to a variety of special causes, events, and charities that Hailey Rotary has supported over the years.
4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza: The City of Hailey and The Chamber proudly present a 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza that is simply spectacular. Watch the show from your favorite spot in Hailey and celebrate a fitting end to a fabulous 4th of July. KECH 95.3 will broadcast a soundtrack for the Hailey Fireworks.
- Dates/times: July 4, Dusk (9-9:30pm)
Art & Antique Fair: Nothing is more fun than treasure hunting at a well-curated antique show, and the Hailey Art & Antique show at Roberta McKercher Park in Hailey will have of the best antique vendors and wares in the region, along with a beer garden and food vendors. You will be sure to find that perfect one-of-a-kind something!
