Rock lovers and nature nerds are encouraged to join ICL staff member Josh Johnson for a beautiful day hike to Sawtooth Lake in the Sawtooth Mountains. In addition to the incredible views, participants will learn about the fascinating geology of the Sawtooths and how it connects to ICL’s climate and energy work. Josh has a master’s degree in geology and several years’ experience as an interpretive guide.
This is a moderately difficult hike that is approximately 9 miles round-trip with 1,750 feet of elevation gain. Please consider the difficulty of the hike before registering. Bring sturdy boots, rain gear and warm layers.
We will meet at ICL’s Ketchum office on Saturday, August 3 at 8:30 a.m. to carpool to the trailhead. If you plan to attend this hike, be sure to bring the following:
- Plenty of water (2 liters recommended)
- Hat and sunglasses
- Warm layers (down jacket, fleece, etc.)
- Rain jacket/outer shell
- Sturdy hiking boots
- Trekking poles (optional)
This hike is limited to 15 participants. Call or email Josh at the Central Idaho office ([email protected]; 208-726-7485) to reserve your spot.
