Preparing for a summer event in these uncertain times is challenging. But we can think of no better gift to writers than to engage them with the country’s finest audience as they – and we – emerge from our cocoons. We’re all hungry for exchange and longing to stretch our imaginations.
Thank you for your patience as we’ve worked to navigate an ever-changing landscape of safety and event protocols.
Rather than our typical four-day format, the Conference will consist of two smaller Conferences of two full days each–July 17-18 & July 19-20. Both conferences will feature presentations by the same group of speakers and will be held exclusively in the Pavilion and in open-air tents.
Our priority is to ensure the safety of our presenters, attendees, staff, volunteers, and community as a whole. To meet the social distancing standards that our medical advisors are recommending, capacity in all venues will be limited (see more details about our COVID-19 protocols at https://svwc.com/covid-19-safety-protocols ).
Pass sales have closed for the 2021 event, however we are excited to be expanding public viewing opportunities for this summer including:
- MORE FREE LAWN TALKS – All Pavilion talks (7-8 per conference including a special Barry Lopez tribute) will be broadcast live to the lawn and open to the public in distanced pods, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- ONLINE STREAMING – All Pavilion talks will be available for streaming online.
- SUMMER SPEAKER SERIES – Four free outdoor evening talks in partnership with The Community Library will be held in July.
- AUDIO RECORDINGS – All Pavilion talks and breakout sessions will be recorded and available for listening via our website.
