Sun Valley Writers' Conference
(208) 726-5454
Rather than our typical four-day format, we will present two smaller Conferences of two full days each – July 17 & 18 and July 19 & 20. Both conferences will feature presentations by the same group of speakers (details below) and will be held exclusively in the Pavilion and in open-air tents.

Our priority is to ensure the safety of our presenters, attendees, staff, volunteers, and community as a whole. To meet the social distancing standards that our medical advisors are recommending, capacity in all venues will be limited (see more details about our COVID-19 protocols below).

We are thrilled to welcome Isabel Allende, Tobias Wolff, and Sarah M. Broom as well as returning writers with wonderful new work, including George Packer, Daniel James Brown, and David Eagleman.lso consulting with legal and medical advisors and reaching out to writers. Just as soon as we have a better sense of how we can proceed, we will provide more information about our plans and any options to purchase passes. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate any converted 2020 passes in 2021.

If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected] or call 208.726.5454.

We are currently accepting donor pledges and evaluating our capacity for pass sales. If you are interested in joining our family of donors, please visit our Support page. If we have any passes available after our donor pledge period has ended in mid-May, we will sell those via lottery in early June for $600 each. More detailed information about that process will be emailed to you as the date nears.

We have also expanded viewing opportunities for this summer:

  • MORE FREE LAWN TALKS – All Pavilion talks (6 per conference) will be broadcast live to the lawn and open to the public, with advanced online reserved seating in pods.
  • ONLINE STREAMING – All Pavilion talks will be available for streaming online.
  • SUMMER SPEAKER SERIES – Four free outdoor evening talks in partnership with The Community Library will be held in July.
  • AUDIO RECORDINGS – All Pavilion talks and breakout sessions will be recorded and available for listening via our website.

Please keep an eye on SVWC.COM for more updates and additional information about signing up and accessing all of the above.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we work through this challenging situation and please stay well.

Pass Cancellation Policy:

If your plans change and you are no longer able to use your pass, you may request a cancellation up until May 15 of the Conference year and we will issue you a refund (less a $35 fee per pass). We regret that we cannot issue refunds after that date.
