The Nutcracker: Eugene Ballet Company and CSI Make Dreams Come True
The College of Southern Idaho Blaine County Center (CSI) is thrilled to announce the return of The Nutcracker performed by the Eugene Ballet Company on Sunday, December 8 in Hailey at 6:30 p.m. at the Wood River High School Performing Arts Theatre located in the Community Campus. Eugene Ballet Company (EBC) Artistic Director, Toni Pimble has created a holiday ballet extravaganza where young, local dancers can see their dreams come true by performing on stage with professional dancers. These aspiring young dancers join the Company, while the Sugar Plum Fairy transports all to the Snow Kingdom and the Land of the Sweets. You’ll cheer and boo at the battle with the not-so-scary Mouse King and his Pirate Hench Mice, as Clara and The Nutcracker win the day.
EBC tours The Nutcracker throughout the west during the holiday season. Starring in the performance is new EBC Soloist Dancer Sarah Kosterman as the Sugar Plum Fairy. The roles of Clara will be danced by Vivien Farrell, and Hans by Koki Yamaguchi.
Over 65 students from our local ballet school, Footlight Dance Centre auditioned in September for roles in the performance from Baby Mice to Waltz of the Flowers. The young dancers have been rehearsing for weeks to realize their dreams of dancing onstage with EBC. Footlight Dance Centre director, Hilarie Neely has been conducting weekend rehearsals for the local dancers since the auditions. “Involvement of local dance students is something we’ve always encouraged,” Pimble said. “The experiences with a professional company will be something they’ll remember for years to come, and give them inspiration beyond their dance studies.”
